SMS Functionality
The 1756HP-CELL module offers a cost effective and convenient method of remote monitoring and event notification. Notifying responsible personnel of the precise condition or fault of a plant improves response time, and in turn, decreases downtime. The 1756HP-CELL module slots directly into any ControlLogix chassis, interfacing with, and deriving all required power, from the backplane.
GSM Cellular Network
The module utilizes any standard GSM cellular network which has coverage in the area where the module is located. The module requires a GSM antenna which is supplied with the module. The antenna is connected by means of the SMA connector located at the bottom of the module. The SIM card of the cellular network plugs in easily into the module and is secured inside the rack. The cellular account works like any cellular phone account and is therefore easy to maintain. The module will determine if a PIN is required, and if so the configured PIN number will be entered. Once the SIM has been initialized, the module will attempt to establish a connection to the GSM network.
Messaging
The module will, once connected to the GSM network, periodically display the signal strength of the network, which can provide a good indication of how successful communications will be. The module can send and receive SMS's (Short Message Service) by utilizing the easy to use generic message block within RSLogix5000. Received Messages may be stored for logging purposes. Sample ladder logic is available and will further ease the use and integration of the module.
Diagnostics
Module diagnostics for the 1756HP-CELL module is easily accessible by viewing the input image. The input image is transferred to a user friendly UDT, simplifying the installation and commissioning process of the module.
